Um aspecto importante destacado é o controle de derrapagem. Pneus traseiros com sulcos mais profundos ajudam a drenar a água, aumentando a aderência e reduzindo o risco de perder contato com o chão. Além disso, o motorista tem controle direto sobre as rodas dianteiras, mas não sobre as traseiras, o que torna crucial garantir que o eixo traseiro tenha boa aderência.

Outra questão abordada é a estabilidade durante a frenagem. Durante uma freada de emergência, o peso do veículo se desloca para frente, o que pode causar o travamento das rodas traseiras se elas estiverem muito desgastadas.
